Holiday Cheer and Fun Traditions

Tomorrow is a very important day.

It is Ugly Holiday Sweater Day at my school!

I know this sounds silly, but to be honest, it is exactly what I need right now. I cannot wait any longer to get excited about the upcoming holidays.

Besides, wearing Ugly Christmas Sweaters is a very special tradition in my family. It began when my grandpa wore one to our annual Christmas Eve dinner and since he passed away, the rest of my family has begun to wear ugly Christmas sweaters in his honor.

These sweaters are often considered exceptionally hideous, but that’s part of the fun! It is great to be able to laugh with others about my appearance (although to be honest, I rarely wear them in public).

Ugly sweaters are always festive. Many feature the classic red and green colors, along with lots of special touches. (The one I’m wearing tomorrow is homemade by my mom. it features candy-cane trim, a Christmas tree, Santa Claus on the back and enough rick-rack to make any crafter go crazy.)

The best part about wearing an ugly Christmas sweater, however, is that it gets me excited to celebrate the coming of Jesus again!
