Elton John’s last tour coming to Houston: “Farewell Yellow Brick Road”

Elton John announced last week that he would be retiring from touring. “It’s time to come off the road so I can fully embrace the next important chapter of my life.” Only after going out with a bang, of course. The seventy year old singer will perform over three hundred shows over a span of three years before he finally calls it quits. The tour will kick off in Allentown, Pennsylvania on September 8, 2018 and visit Houston on December 8th and 9th at the Toyota Center. It will cover five continents; North America, Europe and the Middle East, Asia, South America and Australia. The tour begins in 2018 and is set to end in 2021.

Today Ticketmaster Verified Fan Presale commenced. In order to be a Verified Fan, fans must first register through Ticketmaster. Verified Fan is created to ensure that fans get equal opportunities to get tickets, it’s created in the interests of fans to protect them from scalpers or bots. You must register ahead of time for this access and wait patiently to get an email the night before letting you know if you have been verified or not. Last night, many eager Houstonians waited for the email. Some got confirmation, some didn’t. About three hours before they went on sale, at 10AM, Ticketmaster sent out passcodes and links to those who were verified. Believe it or not, this still didn’t guarantee you tickets. You still had to go through the process of waiting in the online wait room until they opened up at 10AM on the dot hoping tickets weren’t sold out.

Few fans were able to get tickets, some cities sold out in seconds. Fans of all ages have came out to try to get their hands on tickets that will surely be the end of a legend. The singer said that although he didn’t imagine quitting ten years ago, priorities have changes since then. He says that his two sons – ages five and seven  with husband David Furnish – were the reason he’s retiring. “After the tour finishes, I’m very much looking forward to closing off that chapter of my life by saying farewell to life on the road. I need to dedicate more time to raising my children.”

So for those lucky fans who managed to get tickets, I’ll see you at the show!
