HAZMAT spill in Houston: I-10 Westbound at I-610

The Houston Fire Department is currently taking action with a HAZMAT Spill that occurred today, causing many traffic issues. A “HAZMAT Spill” is also known as a “Hazardous Spill,” which is known as any substance that has the potential to cause harm to humans, animals, and the environment as well.

The driver of an 18-wheeler mean to break in order to prevent a collision. The end result was, containers holding the formic acid flew forward and damaged the trailer and the cab.

This accident has cause traffic trouble on I-10 Katy westbound at the West Loop. So far, I-10 is closed westbound of 610.

Due to the dangers of the chemicals, minimum precautions are taking place right now. Evacuation plans have not been released yet in case of any danger.

Officials expect about three to five hours until the area is cleaned and is safe for everyone.
