A 64-year-old man killed 59 people and injured more than 500 people at a Musical Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada on Monday, October 2, 2017.
He opened fire from his hotel suite at the Mandalay Bay Hotel not too far from the concert grounds. This was the labeled as the most deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
Country music singer Jason Alden ran off stage when gun shots were heard at the Las Vegas music festival. It sent concertgoers into a frenzy and they sought cover.
A team of six officers spoke with security at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, where Paddock was staying, and searched the hotel floor-by-floor Sunday night before they found the shooter’s room, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo told reporters.
The man fired at the officers through the door, Lombardo said.
A SWAT team broke down the door, but the suspect had already killed himself, Lombardo said. Authorities recovered 23 guns from his room, said Clark County NV Assistant Sheriff Todd Fasulo. Lombardo said several of the rifles had scopes on them.
