In a press conference at Westcott Elementary School, Chance the Rapper donated $1,000,000 to Chicago Public Schools. After meeting with Illinois governor, Bruce Rauner, on Friday to discuss the funding of public schools in Chicago, Chance left disappointed about the lack of action taken by the governor to improve school funding. This stems from the fact that in December the governor vetoed a bill that would have given $215,000,000 to Chicago Public Schools.
In addition to the million dollars donated, Chance stepped his game up by also donating $10,000 particularly to Westcott Elementary School and nine other public schools in the district. He has also provided a way for his fans to get involved by providing a link on his website for donations and has encouraged other celebrities from Chicago to do their part as well.
