Day at Discovery Green

After years of planning, Super Bowl 51 has taken place. Boy was it memorable. From the food, to the parties, to the celebrities, to the music, to the actual game. Super Bowl 51 WILL go down in history.

Anticipation for the events started months in advance and the actual festivities started a week in advance. Things were happening all around Houston during super bowl weekend it was utterly impossible to be at two events at once. Luckily, I was granted access inside a couple of events in the Houston area.

My super bowl weekend started on Thursday when Myion and I spent the afternoon at Discovery Green, a park in the heart of downtown.

I HAVE to commend the City of Houston and the Super Bowl Committee for the amazing work and planning they did for years in advance. My time downtown went smoothly and I have nothing but positive things to say about my super bowl experience. Although the traffic was harsh, my weekend was unforgettable.

At Discovery Green there were so many exhibits and things happen constantly I couldn’t even get to everything. However, here are some pictures of our adventures downtown.

The bipolar Houston weather was under control and nice all weekend long. I mean what other city can beat 65 degree weather in February?
Houston Live was full of blocks with tasty food and fun for everyone. The 20+ food trucks gave so many options for any craving. My personal favorites was the Waffle Bus and the Burger Joint. Houston Live also had a selection of performance stages and the puppy bowl!!
There was so much love for Houston in and around Discovery Green. Myion and I decided to pose by the famous Houston sign. This sign art installation was completely made up of colorful dots.
This picture was taken right in front of the super bowl live stage. You can see dedicated fans already in place for Solange at 3 in the afternoon.
The Houston Humane Society partnered with Animal Planet to show the famous Puppy Bowl. The Houston Humane Society was also offering pet adoptions for those interested.
Houston got its first taste of Ingrid, Beyonce’s first artist to sign to her label, Parkwood Entertainment. Check out her website,
This was my first introduction to Lizzo. But she was amazing and put on an amazing show. Everyone on stage from her break up dancers and DJ were full of energy and kept the crowd dancing. Make sure to check her out!!
Solange killed it!!! She performed new and old songs and exuded love and hope into the atmosphere. She was the last act of the night at the Super Bowl Live stage. All performers were Houston natives so it was amazing to see Houston artist come back home.
My entire super bowl weekend was amazing. I can’t wait to be in the city for the next super bowl Houston host!!
