Solange returns to her Houston roots

On Thursday, February 2, Houston native, Solange graced the the Super Bowl Live stage in Discovery Green Park. She wowed not only Houston fans but fans from all over the country that came to visit the festivities. She sang many favorites off of her newest album, A Seat at the Table. She received her first Grammy nomination for the song, “Cranes in the Sky”, under the category Best R&B Performance.

A crowd of fans starting forming to see Solange starting at noon and those dedicated fans didn’t leave until almost 11 0’clock that night. She opened up her set by singing the first song on her album, Rise. Everyone on stage was in sync with the creative aesthetic and vision Solange had. Her musicians, backup singers/dancers, and even Solange herself were all synchronized. The all white attire and continuous dance moves that was drenched in a bold red hue made the concert unforgettable.

She sang many hits from her album and encouraged the audience to dance and sing along. She serenaded the audience when she sang “Weary”, “Cranes in the Sky”, “Mad”, “F.U.B.U.”, “Junie”, hits from her older album, and a special encore performance of, “Don’t Touch My Hair”.

An electrifying energy filled the air at Discovery Green and fans left full of love.
